Thomas Raggi, a well-known Italian guitarist, professional musician, composer, social media influencer, and businessman from Rome, Italy, was born on January 18, 2001. Thomas is well-known in the field for being an active “Maneskin” member.
How Raggi Met His Bandmates:
Thomas “Er Cobra” Raggi (guitar) and Victoria De Angelis (bass) were pals when they were in middle school. While they were both pupils at Rome’s J.F. Kennedy Scientific High School in August 2015, they didn’t start to get along despite knowing one other’s passion of music. Then they made the decision to start a band. Damiano David, a singer, and Ethan Torchio, a drummer, eventually joined them. The latter was hired through a Facebook advertisement.
How Raggi and his band mates came up with their name:
The band’s name, Maneskin, was accidentally coined by Raggi and his bandmates. Victoria explained that the band was seeking for a name to enter a nearby music competition for up-and-coming bands. But we didn’t know what to call ourselves. Then it occurred to someone that since Victoria is half-Danish, the study should concentrate on a term from that tongue. When the bassist said “Maneskin,” everyone fell in love with the song’s sound and iconic status. They decided to travel there a few months later since they were so charmed with the Nordic nation. In Danish, the word implies moonlight. It served as a good omen.
Rise to stardom:
At a young age, the aspiring guitarist began studying the classical guitar. Raggi used to perform on his guitar at numerous street fairs and nightclubs in his early years. He and his buddies made the decision to form the band Mneskin, which is Danish for “moonshine,” later in 2016. Their popularity soared after they appeared on the X Factor Italy season 11 stage, which prompted them to release their debut studio album, Chosen. Following that, the musicians continued to compete in music competitions, and in the end, the band won the Sanremo Music Festival in 2021 and the Eurovision Song Contest that same year. Raggi is an accomplished guitarist who frequently plays a variety of guitars, from classical to electric.
LGBTQ+ Support:
Thomas Raggi and Damiano David kissed on stage during the concert in Poland. Damiano stated in public that the kiss was a demonstration of support for LGBTQ+ rights and a protest against Poland’s homophobia. The duo exclaimed that;
“Everyone ought to be entirely free to be whoever the f**k they want, in our opinion. Poland, I thank you; LOVE IS ALWAYS RIGHT.”
Despite the attention the kiss received, Thomas revealed that he is straight in an interview with Corriere Della Sera. The action was perceived as a protest against the country’s escalating homophobia after it was reported that roughly 100 Polish municipal or local administrations had previously declared themselves to be “free from LGBT ideology” in the previous year.The Council of Europe, a global watchdog, reported that the nation’s record on LGBT+ rights was the worst in the EU.
